North Delhi Mayor Mr. Jai Prakash today launched Plastic Free Market Campaign 2021 at Mahila Haat of North Delhi Municipal Corporation at Delhi Gate. On the occasion City-Sadar Paharganj Ward Committee, Chairman Mr. Mohammad Sadiq, Councilor, Mr. Aley Mohammed, Mr. Ravi Kaptan, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of the zone, Ms. Shashanka Ala and other officers of the corporation were also present. On the occasion students of Municipal Primary Schools exhibit the products made by them from waste materials.
Mayor said that as part of the Plastic Free Market Campaign, kiosks have been set up at various places in the markets in the Sadar Paharganj zone where citizens can take a jute or cloth bag by giving 1 kg plastic. He said that this campaign will help to reduce plastic waste at the streets and landfill sites.
Mayor Mr. Jai Prakash said that North Delhi Municipal Corporation is providing services to the citizens with limited resources. So the efforts for working to keep the city clean and discouraging single use plastic is commendable. He said that Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji has a dream to minimize the single use plastic, North DMC is continuously working on it. He said that the North DMC is running an awareness campaign against single-use plastics through various means to make citizens aware of the bad impact of single-use plastic on the environment.
Mayor said that we ourselves would discourage plastic and make others stop using single-use plastic. He said that this programme would be extended to each and every zone.
